What Would Happen If The Jays Got Shohei Ohtani

There is no doubt Shohei Ohtani has an interest in joining the Toronto Blue Jays, but what are the actual chances he comes to the Jays? and if he does, what does that mean for the Blue Jays? How are the Jays labelled a win-now team when they have been stuck in the same space for the past couple of years (getting swept in the wild card); Is this a place where Ohtani wants to join?

According to a plethora of reports, the Shohei Ohtani news to Torotno is real, they are the legitimate favourite to land him, and apparently, the Ohtani team is frustrated with how the Dodgers leaked details about meeting with Ohtani. So with that information, there is a real chance Ohtani can be a Blue Jay by the end of the week. The real question to ask though is what would Ohtani bring to the Blue Jays that the team doesn’t have now?

If the Blue Jays were to be able to bring in Ohtani, the Blue Jays would become a big market for free agents in the future, Rogers (the owners of the Blue Jays) would make so much money they would make the money back in a a couple years. All over social media, people from across the world said they would watch games, buy jerseys, buy tickets to games and much more. Is that something Rogers and the Blue Jays want to pass on? If I were the owner, I would not pass on that, being able to say you have a big market for free agents, being able to resign players cause you to have the money too, and growing as a ball club is something that can’t be passed on. Another question though for Ohtani is an underperforming win-now team a place you want to go to?

The Jays' underperforming for the past few years has been no secret, not being able to escape the wild-card round, while being favourites to win it is utterly atrocious. There is a massive hole in the Blue Jays lineup that needs to be filled, and that is power hitting, the Blue Jays last year did not feel like themselves, a known power-hitting ball club that is usually in the top ten in offence just couldn't find their hitting stride all year. If the Jays bring in the best player in the league the Jays can 100% be a favourite to win the World Series; with the pitching they have (rotation and bullpen), and a lineup consisting of George Springer, Bo Bichette, Vlad Jr. AND Ohtani, that is lethal, who is going to stop that?
